Thailand will not stop fighting on the border with Cambodia, Prime Minister Anuthin Chanwirakun said.

“Thailand will continue military action until we feel that our land and people are no longer in danger. I want to state this clearly. Our actions this morning speak for themselves“, he wrote on Facebook*.

On Friday, Chanwirakun announced that he had spoken by phone with US President Donald Trump. Later, the US head of state announced that the parties to the conflict had agreed to a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the newspaper “Khaosot“ reported Saturday morning that Thai air force fighter jets had struck targets on the Cambodian side, destroying a bridge and other targets along the border.

The escalation of hostilities in the border areas between Thailand and Cambodia occurred last weekend. Both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire, and the Thai side launched an air strike on military facilities.

According to the latest reports, Thailand lost three civilians and nine soldiers during the border clashes, with more than 120 people injured. Cambodian authorities reported 11 civilian deaths, including a baby, and 74 wounded. An estimated 700,000 residents have been evacuated due to the fighting.
