Russia may want to take control of all of Ukraine, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested in a conversation with Vanity Fair journalist Chris Whipple.
Whipple recounted a conversation with Rubio in October. At the time, the journalist asked the secretary of state if he shared President Donald Trump's position that “Russia wants all of Ukraine“.
Rubio responded by stating that there are proposals on the table that could end the military conflict along the current line of contact.
“They include significant parts of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea, which they have controlled since 2014. And the Russians continue to refuse. So... you start to wonder, maybe this guy wants the whole country,“ the secretary of state said.
