Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that “warmongers“ are not able to hinder the negotiation process.

He stated this to reporters after the new round of negotiations with the American side in Miami on December 20 and 21, RIA Novosti reports.

“They failed“, Dmitriev answered a journalist's question on the subject.

The talks were held at a golf club. There, Dmitriev met with US President's envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The Russian president's special envoy had previously called the talks "constructive".

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Dmitriev had traveled to the United States with the mission of getting acquainted with European and American developments on the peace plan for Ukraine and conveying this information to the Kremlin.

Previously, on December 19, a new round of consultations between the United States and Ukraine was held in Miami.According to Axios, the talks also included national security advisers to the leaders of Germany, France and the United Kingdom. The next day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United States had proposed direct talks with Ukraine, Russia and Europe. Kiev supported this initiative.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously mentioned the possibility of a bilateral meeting with Zelensky, but only if the latter was willing to travel to Moscow. Zelensky refused the visit.

The talks in Miami to resolve the Ukrainian conflict were productive, said the US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“Over the past three days in Florida, the Ukrainian delegation held a series of productive and constructive meetings with American and European partners“, he wrote.

Witkoff reported that with representatives of Kiev they discussed “the development of a 20-point plan, coordination of positions under the framework of multilateral security guarantees, coordination of positions under the framework of US security guarantees for Ukraine, and further development of a plan for economic development and prosperity“.

Witkoff added that the talks focused on “discussing the timing and sequence of next steps“.

“Ukraine remains fully committed to achieving "of a just and sustainable peace," the Special Envoy stressed.

He noted that the priority is the cessation of hostilities, the provision of security guarantees and the creation of conditions for the restoration of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian delegation was represented by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andriy Khnatov.
