The US Air Force has increased the contract with Lockheed Martin for the production of C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft by $10 billion to $25 billion, according to a statement published by the Pentagon press service on Tuesday.
“As a result of this modification, the total nominal value of the contract increases from $15 billion to $25 billion“, the document notes.
The contract must be executed by July 16, 2035. The exact number of aircraft that will be produced by that date is not specified. The US side plans to sell some of them to Australia, Germany, Egypt, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines and France.
The US Air Force also signed a $2 billion contract with Boeing to replace engines for B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers. The contract must be completed by May 31, 2033.
