Volodymyr Zelensky: Ukraine's energy sector is the main target of Russian strikes - 1

About 58,000 people are working around the clock in repair teams on power grids and generating facilities.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address, published on Facebook and quoted by "Ukrinform".

Zelensky said that he had been receiving reports from Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and Energy Minister Denys Shmygal throughout the day. He noted that restoration work is continuing after the Russian strikes and that, unfortunately, there are new strikes every night.

According to him, Russia's main target remains Ukraine's energy sector.

He added that an additional 50 repair teams from across the country have been deployed to Kiev, where the situation remains very difficult. Zelensky said that some residential buildings are still without heating and that for these cases, the necessary equipment and teams are being manually deployed to practically every building. He also noted that the situation is difficult in the Kiev region, especially in the northern part of the region and in the Boryspil district.

Zelensky also said that repairs to networks and facilities are also complicated in border and frontline areas due to almost constant shelling and strikes. He said that Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions require special attention. In Poltava region and Odessa, a lot of work has been done to stabilize the energy situation.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to all repair teams currently working, to state and private energy companies, as well as to all city and municipal leaders, who, as he said, are really working together with their people and providing real assistance.
