Ukrainian Defense Minister: The world was not prepared for this type of war! But we are forced to react quickly - 1

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the creation of a Ukrainian anti-drone dome. He announced this in his Telegram channel, quoted by UNIAN.

"Our goal is to build an anti-drone dome over Ukraine. A system that does not react after the fact, but destroys the threat when it approaches," the Defense Minister wrote.

Fedorov noted that no country in the world has as much experience in countering air attacks as Ukraine. He recalled that hundreds of enemy drones attack our country every day and every night.

"The world was not prepared for this type of war. But we are forced to react - quickly, systematically and technologically. That is why, on the instructions of the president, we are changing our approach to protecting the sky. The transformation of such a system does not happen in a few days, but we must start today to finally solve this problem, "Fyodorov stressed.

The Minister of Defense also announced that he had signed an order appointing Pavel "Lazar" Elizarov as deputy commander of the Ukrainian Air Force. He specified that Elizarov will be responsible for the development of small air defense systems and the interception of drones.

"Under his leadership, the Lazar Group unit has become one of the most effective in the defense forces. This team has destroyed enemy equipment worth over $13 billion," Fedorov noted.

According to the Defense Minister, the main task now is to expand the scale of this experience. He said that it is necessary to build a system that will operate not only on a local basis, but also on a national scale.

"It is difficult to transform an army when the enemy strikes every day. But we have no choice. We must change our approaches, structures and operational logic so that the technologies actually work on the battlefield, and not remain in presentations. The results will not be available tomorrow, but we are building the system today," Fedorov said.

The Defense Minister said that in 2025, Russia launched up to 100,000 Shahed and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine. Enemy attacks have damaged dozens of critical infrastructure sites, affected hundreds of residential buildings, and caused casualties.
