US leader Donald Trump may retain his post as chairman of the Gaza Peace Council after his presidential term expires in 2029, Bloomberg reported, citing its source.
It is noted that Trump may continue to chair the Peace Council after he leaves the White House, as long as he does not resign from this post. While the US administration is trying to clarify who will be a member of the Peace Council, who will manage it and how it will function, the possibility of Trump becoming its chairman for life has become another obstacle to the creation of this organization, Bloomberg writes.
Previously, the leaders of several countries received offers from the United States to join the “Peace Council“. The body is expected to begin its work in the second phase of the peace plan agreed in October 2025 by Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the United States and Turkey.
