Greenland is not for sale, and its status is a matter solely for the Kingdom of Denmark.

This was stated by the acting Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff, commenting on the debate surrounding the US interest in the island.

“As far as I know, Greenland is not for sale. This concerns the Kingdom of Denmark and I have always known that Copenhagen has no intention of taking such a step“, Schoff said on RTL television. He also stressed that the Netherlands fully supports Denmark's position.

Relations between Europe and the United States will never return to their previous format, Schoff said, commenting on the growing tension in transatlantic relations against the backdrop of the situation over Greenland.

“We were brought up in a different time and that time will not return“, said the interim head of government in response to a question from an RTL journalist about the future of European-American relations. He said that European countries should not “indulge in nostalgia“, but at the same time it is important to preserve their own values.

“This does not mean that we should immediately abandon the key principles on which Europe is built. At the same time, we must recognize that in today's world, the rule of force prevails and this must be taken into account“, Schoff noted. He believes that Europe must adapt to new realities without losing its identity and ability to defend its interests on the international stage.
