A young man died of an electric shock at a Berlin metro station after trying to pick up his e-cigarette that fell on the railway tracks, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Berlin police said the 17-year-old was part of a group at the "Deutsche Oper" (German Opera) station and tried to pick up his e-cigarette (vape) that fell under a stopped train.
During his attempt, he touched the tracks, after which he was electrocuted and died on the spot.
A police spokesman specified that trains are not always on the tracks, as they are sometimes temporarily parked at metro stations. However, the rails may remain electrically live, posing a risk of electric shock if touched.
