Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described as intolerable today the statements of US President Donald Trump that NATO allies were far from the front lines in Afghanistan, Agence France-Presse reported.
"I understand very well the statement of the Danish veterans that they have no words to describe how bad they felt", she wrote on the social platform "Facebook".
"It is intolerable for the US president to question the participation of allied soldiers in Afghanistan," Frederiksen also said.
US President Donald Trump's comments that NATO soldiers were far from the front lines in Afghanistan are "offensive and frankly appalling", the British Prime Minister said yesterday Keir Starmer, quoted by Reuters.
"I find President Trump's comments offensive and frankly appalling and I'm not surprised that they have caused such pain to the families of those killed and injured," Starmer told reporters.
Starmer appointed his senior business adviser Varun Chandra as his new special envoy to the United States, focusing on trade and private investment. The move comes amid tensions between Britain and the United States over Donald Trump's ambitions for Greenland, his comments on the conduct of NATO troops in Afghanistan and his Peace Council initiative.
