Sweden allocates new aid package for Ukraine - 1

The Swedish government has announced a new package of measures to support Ukraine for 2026 worth about 240 million Swedish kronor ($25.7 million), Ukrinform reports, citing an official press release cited by BTA.

Of this, 150 million kronor will be provided to the Ukrainian Red Cross to finance humanitarian activities. A significant part of the funds will be directed to supporting children, including providing food in schools near the front line, improving care in a family environment, and supporting mental health.

Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dusa stressed that the war has a severe impact on children, leading to interruption of education, loss of loved ones, and forced displacement. According to him, the current package is an investment in the future of Ukraine.

The government in Stockholm notes that the humanitarian situation in the country remains extremely difficult both in areas close to the front and in large cities.

According to UN data, more than 10.8 million people in Ukraine need assistance, and about 3.7 million are internally displaced. Many people continue to live without access to electricity, heating and water.

In addition, Sweden will provide more than 71 million Swedish kronor ($7.8 million) to support women and girls in Ukraine.
