US Vice President JD Vance plans to visit Hungary on April 7-8 ahead of the parliamentary elections in the European country, Politico reported, citing information from the State Department.
According to the newspaper, Vance's visit to Budapest is intended to demonstrate the current US administration's support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
US President Donald Trump previously expressed his support for Orban.
The parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled for April 12.
The ruling Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Union party is in a pre-election battle with the opposition Tisza party, which is favored by the EU leadership.
