Rubio: We will open the Strait of Hormuz tomorrow if Iran stops threatening shipping - 1

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened as soon as Iran stops threatening international shipping, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters.

“The Strait of Hormuz could be reopened tomorrow if Iran stops threatening international shipping“, Rubio said, according to the State Department press service.

The US Secretary of State avoided answering a question about the possibility of a US ground operation to restore shipping in the strait. “This is a tactical military issue. "I won't speculate on what would be necessary," he said.

Iranian authorities have also decided to close the Strait of Hormuz to ships affiliated with the United States, Israel and countries supporting aggression against the Islamic Republic. During the conflict, several tankers were attacked for passing through the strait without Tehran's permission. On March 25, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran had allowed friendly countries, including Russia, India, Iraq, China and Pakistan, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
