CBS: US runs out of Tomahawk missiles, already sending several times its annual production volume to Iran - 1

Since the beginning of the military operation, the US has hit Iran with more than 100 “Tomahawk“ cruise missiles, but their stockpiles are running out faster than they can be replenished, CBS News reported, citing its sources.

According to these sources, the US has fired a number of “Tomahawk“ missiles at Iran, which exceeds the annual volume of orders for these missiles by the US military several times.

One source reported that more than 850 “Tomahawk“ missiles have already been fired at Iran during the conflict – roughly nine times the Pentagon's average annual order volume.

According to U.S. Department of Defense budget documents, CBS reports that the maximum production capacity is estimated at 2,330 missiles per year. However, the actual order volume for the U.S. military is about 90 missiles per year. The Navy has requested only 57 missiles for fiscal year 2026, the channel reports.

The U.S. military's heavy reliance on these missiles in the Iran conflict will require urgent discussions about whether to move the Tomahawk missiles from other parts of the world, including the Indo-Pacific region, as well as the creation of new forces, according to several US officials, reports the “Washington Post“.

One official described the number of “Tomahawk“ missiles remaining in the Middle East as “alarmingly low“.
