US Vice President J.D. Vance received the highest approval in the poll among participants at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) party convention for a possible candidate for the Republican Party for president of the United States in the 2028 elections, according to data released last night, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

About 53% of the more than 1,600 participants who voted in the poll chose Vance. Secretary of State Marco Rubio came in second with 35 percent at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference, a key annual gathering of Republican lawmakers, activists and presidential candidates.

The convention, held this year in Grapevine, Texas, draws mostly conservatives, and the annual conference poll is not necessarily a reliable indicator of the eventual nominee.

But the poll offers a snapshot of where the energy is currently focused among core supporters of President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. Trump, who is currently serving his second term, is ineligible to run again in the 2028 U.S. presidential election.
