A ballistic missile launched from Iran entered Turkish airspace and was shot down by NATO air defenses deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean. This was reported by the Turkish Defense Ministry, quoted by "Reuters", writes BTA.
This is the fourth such incident since the start of the war between the United States and Iran, after three other missiles were intercepted by NATO systems earlier this month. The incidents prompted Ankara to protest and issue a warning to Tehran.
In the previous three incidents, Tehran denied authorizing such launches and asked Ankara to conduct a joint investigation into the matter.
The ministry said that all necessary measures were being taken "resolutely and without hesitation" against any threat directed at Turkey's territory and airspace.
