Slovak Prime Minister Works at Bakery as a Loader - 1

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico worked the night shift at a bakery as a loader in solidarity with workers. “Done! The night shift has been successfully completed, various baked goods have been delivered, the job is done“, Fico wrote on his Facebook page* on Friday.

On the night of May 1, the Slovak prime minister participated in a bakery delivery service for the bakery, which is located in the small Slovak town of Banovce nad Bebravou in western Slovakia. Fico accompanied the delivery driver and did all the physical work, loading the products into the truck and delivering them to customers. He said he had the opportunity to talk to the people receiving the goods and discuss topics ranging from sports to politics with the bakery driver while they were on the road.

“Another good experience“, Fico concluded, adding that the work of a loader is physically demanding.
On the night of May 1, 2024, Fico worked an eight-hour night shift at the ZKW Slovakia auto parts assembly plant. At the time, he noted that such work is associated with a high physical load on workers. Fico said that Slovakia remains a leader among European countries in night work and that a model suitable for both employers and employees is needed to balance day and night work.

Slovakia celebrates its national holiday, Labor Day, on May 1.
