Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said today that it is time to end the war with the United States while Iran is in a strong position, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
"It is better to end the war now, while we are in a strong position and with our dignity preserved, while the whole world recognizes our victory and emphasizes that the United States is attacking our schools, hospitals and infrastructure, and violating all the rules," Pezeshkian said at a meeting with medics.
The war between the United States and Iran began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes against the Islamic Republic, to which Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and US bases in the region. A ceasefire was agreed on April 7, and in June Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum to resolve the conflict, but the agreement fell apart and fighting resumed on July 7.
Negotiations for a lasting peace have since stalled, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a key contentious issue - Iran is demanding an end to the US blockade and sanctions, while Washington wants free navigation through the strategic waterway.
