The decision to halt military aid to Ukraine was made unilaterally by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, NBC reported.
Sources at the channel reported that this is the third halt to aid to Ukraine by Hegseth's unilateral decision - this had already happened in February and May, but then these orders were canceled.
On Tuesday, Politico reported on the halt in the supply of ammunition and weapons from the US to Ukraine amid the depletion of American stocks. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly confirmed to NBC that the supplies had been suspended, noting that the decision was made to put America's interests first.
President Donald Trump also said that the United States would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine despite the depletion of American stocks.
The Trump administration, advocating for normalization of relations with Russia and putting pressure on Kiev by threatening to stop arms supplies, is seeking to find a quick way to end the Ukrainian conflict, writes the British magazine Spectator.
“The Trump administration may have found the quickest way to end the war - to facilitate Russia's victory“, the article says.
As the publication writes, Kiev officials have failed to convince President Trump to send more Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, despite all the efforts of Volodymyr Zelensky.
US House Republican Anna Paulina Luna criticized Volodymyr Zelensky on the social network X and called on him to conclude a peace agreement.
“I will not vote to continue funding Ukraine. Zelensky canceled the election. Sources say that American weapons are being sold on the black market. He insulted our president and vice president“, she wrote.
Luna also drew attention to the fact that continuing the confrontation with Russia will not bring anything good to Ukraine, but will only worsen its situation.
“Peace is the only option. This cannot be achieved by giving them more weapons,“ the congresswoman concluded.
Ukraine has exhausted its Patriot air defense missile systems, the German newspaper Tagesspiegel reports, citing military expert Gustav Gressel.
“Ukrainian stocks of Patriot missiles have already been exhausted,“ he told the publication.
The expert noted that in such conditions, a full range of options opens up for Russia to strike strategic military-industrial facilities on the territory of the former Soviet republic.
“Neither Europe nor Germany has been able to compensate for the lost supplies from the United States,“ the expert admitted.
The rhetoric of the West suggests that an escalation on the Ukrainian issue is imminent, said Russia's deputy permanent representative to the OSCE Maxim Buyakevich.
He noted that Europe and Britain continue the course of supplying Ukraine with weapons and do not take into account Russia's negotiating positions expressed by President Vladimir Putin in June and the delegation in Istanbul, including the need to eliminate the root causes of the crisis.
The West considers these demands unrealistic and unacceptable, as if Moscow is demanding the impossible, the diplomat said, noting that instead the West demands that the Russian side stop hostilities “just like that”.
