In May, Germany once again became the leader among EU member states in beer supplies to the Russian market. The reason is a drop in supplies from the Czech Republic, according to data from the Bank of Russia.
Germany was the main exporter of beer from the EU to Russia over the past few years, until in February of this year, amid a decrease in supplies of the German alcoholic beverage, the Czech Republic became the leader. In May, its sales to the Russian market decreased significantly - by 28% at once, to 1.5 million EUR. But German supplies remained unchanged at 1.6 million EUR, which allowed German brewers to become the main suppliers to Russia among EU producers.
Among all the main exporters of the sparkling drink to the EU, Lithuania increased supplies - by 15%, to 1.33 million EUR, and Poland - by 1.5 times, up to 84,150 EUR.
