The Board of Directors of "Shop for People" EAD has resigned, Nova TV reports. The reason is the lack of dialogue, lack of clear management direction and support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the management claims.
They point out that despite the achieved results and the implementation of the strategy, the project worked in conditions of contradictory signals and weak coordination, and communication with the principal often took place through the media. According to them, this led to management uncertainty and undermined trust.
Currently, the company has a network of 110 sites in nearly 90 settlements, with dozens more in the process of negotiation. The project provides basic goods at prices 20-30% lower than those in large retail chains.
The Council emphasizes that they worked with commitment to the social cause, not for the sake of remuneration, and states that they will continue to fulfill their obligations until the expiration of the notice. They express hope that the initiative will be developed in the future, so that it continues to provide more affordable prices for people in small settlements.
In August 2025, the government approved the creation of a sole proprietorship with state participation in the capital “Shop for People“ with the aim of providing affordable Bulgarian goods. The appointed Board of Directors was three-member, with representatives of the state included Nikolay Petrov and Olga Stoyanova, and as an independent member - Ivaylo Marinov.
