A fuel oil stain was noticed on a Varna beach by citizens. According to them, the pollution is between the second and third buna, and a video has been shared on social networks, showing that the affected area is significant.
The concerns are that there will be consequences for the flora and fauna, as well as for the quality of the water.
A signal has been submitted to the Basin Directorate, which has taken action after the footage appeared online. Teams will be sent to inspect and take samples of the seawater. At this stage, there is no evidence that the pollution is from a coastal source.
The institution specifies that if the scale of the pollution is confirmed, the Maritime Administration will be notified, as two ships are currently waiting for a raid in the area.
