SANS employees, together with the Communications Regulation Commission and the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, located and neutralized a powerful GPS jammer in the capital. The device was discovered in a tightly guarded complex in the "Dragalevtsi" neighborhood, the Agency's press center reported.
The powerful equipment was suppressing GPS signal frequencies throughout Sofia. According to initial data, the range of the jammer directly affected the operation of Sofia Airport, as well as the navigation of aircraft flying over the capital.
The television towers also fell within the perimeter of impact, which further compromised the security of communication networks in the region.
The neutralization of the threat is the result of coordinated actions between the State Agency for "National Security", the Communications Regulation Commission and the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs.
At the moment, no details are being released about the owners of the heavily guarded complex in the capital's "Dragalevtsi" district, where the illegal equipment was installed.
