Between December 10 and 19, there was an unprecedented attack by the EC for changes to existing laws on food, the protection of the environment and biodiversity, the rights of agricultural producers and the responsibility of corporations. In just two weeks, they managed to push through changes to existing laws, one of these agreements being Mercosur. This was explained in the studio of FACTI to Lili Marinkova Svetla Nikolova from the Agrolink association.
She added that the other law that is being changed is the Seed Regulation and if it is adopted, there will be violations of the rights of small grain producers and they will not be able to keep their own seeds.
In Bulgaria, specifically, we import 80% of the seeds and this would mean total food dependence and the inability to keep our traditional varieties, Nikolova explained.
