Dimitar DIMITROV

I have written many times that the helicopter emergency medical system (HEMS) has enemies in our country. It is time for the masks to start falling off, because otherwise the system will fail, and we will pay the bill.

It is clear that there are economic interests involved, there are also people who simply dream of this system being in the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defense or elsewhere in defiance of EU legislation – this is normal.

However, it is not normal for SOME PEOPLE – senior officials in the Ministry of Health, to be always ready to serve the above, simply because they do not want – HEMS – to exist in our country. The time of these people is COMPLETELY OUT.

The facts:

- Of the planned bases, there is only one in Sliven and one temporary one in Sofia. Work on the bases in the last year - NONE.

- Of the 5 purchased machines. 3 are flying. 1 is CANNED!!! 1 is at the manufacturing plant and WE PAY for it.

- For 2+ years – no primary missions outside the mountains are being carried out. There are no accidents on the highways, no strokes, no women in labor. Everything is inter-hospital transport, which is not HEMS and is aimed at showing that the system MAKES NO MEANING.

- The selection of pilot personnel is totally questionable, at the same time the staff is bloated with unnecessary positions.

- There are total obstacles in the operational procedures – starting from refueling and ending with takeoff and landing.

- It is a matter of time before the EU makes us return a large part of the 200+ million that was given to us for HEMS. The whole thing is hanging by a thread.

Another case is from this weekend – where the takeoff time for a young man in critical condition in the Rila Mountains (due to a heart problem) is 50 MINUTES. I repeat 50 MINUTES until takeoff. The man is unfortunately no longer alive.

Mr. Officials who are in charge of this thing – give up, find another field, find something to dream about. Don't send us this and that. There are too many of us who want Bulgaria to be a normal country, and we are too strong, we cannot be stopped.

Mr. Prime Minister, Madam Ministers of Health and Transport - stop this circus, make changes - now. The public interest is clear, don't put people on the streets again.
