Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that London's decision to hand over to Ukraine classified information about British-made components used to produce long-range SCALP cruise missiles “adds fuel to the fire” and is viewed extremely negatively by Moscow, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham arrived in Kiev this morning on his first trip abroad since taking office, and is scheduled to announce British support for helping Kiev improve its domestic production of long-range missiles.
Asked about the visit and support, Peskov accused Britain of doing everything possible to prevent any progress towards a possible peace agreement.
“Britain is involved in this war. It is involved in this war on the side of the Kiev regime. Britain is methodically and regularly adding fuel to the fire and methodically and regularly devising schemes to prevent even the slightest progress in the peace settlement process“, Peskov told reporters, quoted by TASS. He added that the Russian military is now systematically collecting data to identify all missile production sites and then destroying them.
Last week, Moscow warned London of unspecified consequences for supplying drones to Kiev, accusing it of deepening its involvement in the war after reports that British-made drones had been used for the first time in long-range strikes against Russia.
Burnham said at the time that London was determined to fully support Ukraine in "this illegal war."
