Pandora's box has actually been opened, said GERB leader Boyko Borisov in Yambol regarding the escalation of military actions and strikes on civilian targets related to the war in Ukraine. According to him, the situation is “extremely worrying“, as it is developing at a close distance from Bulgaria.
Borisov also commented on our absence from international forums dedicated to the war in Ukraine. According to him, Bulgaria should participate in such meetings in order to be able to express its position, warn and insist.
„When Prime Minister Zhelyazkov participated in the meetings of the “Friends of Ukraine“, you could express an opinion there, you could agree, you could warn, you could insist. An empty chair is the worst thing in diplomacy“, he pointed out.
Borisov pointed out that when the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, all major European countries and the European Commission participate in the forum, his omission is a mistake.
„I treat Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov with great respect, but it seems that they are more interested in his opinion than in the opinion of the European Union“, said the GERB leader.
The GERB leader also commented on the upcoming presidential elections. He stated that the party is not yet ready to announce its candidate.
„There is time for the presidential elections. We will announce the candidate when it is necessary. All that is required of me and the Executive Committee is to refresh, to make changes in the party. GERB currently needs to restructure, thank those with whom we have been, and bring in new, fresh blood“, Borisov said.
He explained that the presidential candidate will be announced after the end of the GERB Youth Academy.
