They are searching for a 58-year-old man who was swept away from the Stara Reka River in the "Lukovitsa" neighborhood in Peshtera, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed to bTV. According to witnesses, he was saving his wife and their child.
The search for him includes police teams, a drone and dogs.
Due to the strong storm that broke out in the Batak region and intense rainfall, the level of the Stara Reka River rose sharply.
As a result, there were fallen trees and branches, including on the Peshtera-Batak road, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Pazardzhik reported earlier.
By 6:30 p.m., the situation in Batak had normalized, but the level of the Stara Reka River was quite high in the Peshtera region, it had partially overflowed its bed and properties in the "Lukovitsa" neighborhood were flooded.
